how to make snowflake god's eyes.

this week i made some christmas decorations. i'm not really a christmas decorator, although i would like to be (on my terms!) but i was really happy with the way these sort of god's eyes inspired snowflake decorations turned out. the kids love them too, bea insists that they are actually dream catchers.

it was a good way of using up bits of yarn and they are really quick and easy to make. plus god's eyes are so hot right now, you know?

bright colours keep them from venturing into blair witch territory, and the pom poms give them a sort of gypsy circus feel.

how to use a magnifying glass as a pretend camera lens

Photobucket

i've been mucking around with our camera lately, mainly because i am kind of jealous of all the big lenses i've been seeing around lately.  i used bea's plastic kiddie magnifying glass to macgyver some fun effects instead of doing them 'artificially' in photoshop.

the images on the left were taken with the canon G11 only, and on the right with added magnifying glass held over the lens. bottom right, looks like i used a macro lens kinda, middle right, like a fish eye kinda and top right like a loma kinda something

maybe i'll find myself a nice glass magnifying glass and play around some more.
